Three Men Charged with Murder After Fatal Stabbing in Grantham Market Town

GRANTHAM, ENGLAND, Jan. 31, 2026 — Three men have been charged with murder and robbery following the fatal stabbing of a 55-year-old man in the Lincolnshire market town of Grantham, police confirmed on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, where the victim was found with serious injuries near a residential street close to the town centre. Despite efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lincolnshire Police said the suspects — aged 21, 24 and 29 — were arrested within hours of the incident following what detectives described as a “fast-moving investigation.”

A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be a single stab wound to the chest. Officers have not yet publicly identified the victim, pending formal notification of next of kin.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davies said investigators are not seeking additional suspects at this time.

“We understand this incident has caused significant distress within the community,” Davies said. “We have increased patrols in the area and are providing reassurance to residents.”

Local residents described shock in the normally quiet town. Floral tributes were placed near the scene on Friday evening.

Police are appealing for witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage from nearby properties and businesses. Authorities believe the attack may have followed a robbery attempt.

Community leaders urged calm and unity. Grantham’s town council said it would work closely with police to address safety concerns.

The accused men are expected to appear before magistrates on Monday. If convicted, they could face life imprisonment.

The case adds to broader national discussions about violent crime prevention. Government officials have recently pledged additional funding for community policing and knife crime initiatives.

For now, Grantham mourns a life lost while awaiting answers as the judicial process begins.
